How Geothermal Works

We all know that Denver homes are subjected to varying temperatures throughout the year. Some climates can see the extremes that summer and winter throw at us. There is a consistent source of temperature that you can put to good use; just a few feet under the earth's surface. How is that possible?

The sun permeates the Earth's crust with its heat energy. Forty-seven percent of that energy is stored in the ground as heat. Our geothermal systems extract this heating potential using an earth loop system; harvesting this free heat for your home. This cutting-edge technology uses the sun's heat that the earth has conveniently accumulated to condition your home or office.

Geothermal Heating

During the heating cycle, a geothermal heat pump uses the earth loop to draw heat from the ground. As the system draws heat from the loop it circulates it through a traditional duct system as warm air. The same heat energy can also be put to use for a radiant floor system or domestic hot water heating.

Geothermal Cooling

The heating process is reversed in the cooling mode - creating cool, conditioned air throughout the home. Instead of pulling heat from the ground, heat is extracted from the air in your home and either moved back into the earth loop, or used to preheat the water in your hot water tank.
